Removing Old Damaged Shingles and Roofing Material
First things first, we remove all old roofing materials to make room for the new. Normally we will remove shingles, ridge vent, pipe boots, underlayment, flashing, and other material as part of the “tear off” process. The old material and debris will carefully be thrown off the side of the roof and into a dump trailer that we remove after the install and dispose of. During this process nails and caps may find their way off the roof and on the ground. Our team will roll a magnet bar around your home several times to collect any fallen nails or caps. This leaves a clean and presentable home and yard once our work is complete.

Roof Decking Replacement?
Once all the old roofing material has been removed, our team will check your decking to ensure all is well. Depending on the project, we may not replace any decking, we may replace portions of decking, and other times we replace all the decking. Keep in mind, if your decking is damaged or rotten and left that way during install, your warranty will NOT be valid.

Roofing Underlayment and Why It’s So Important
Once the integrity of your decking is checked, our team will install synthetic moisture barrier or “underlayment”. This is placed on top of your roof decking, and underneath your actual shingles. In the even water finds its way under a shingle, the underlayment will assist in keeping the water off your decking (preventing rot and damage).
